To obtain qualified veterinary treatment for the Animal if it becomes ill or is injured.
It is important to note that the treatment and advice sought must be qualified. The Animal Welfare Act 2007 makes this a legal enforcement also and it is worth remembering this regarding all guinea pigs- no matter where you got them from.
One of the primary reasons for rehoming locally is because I know and use the local vets and can unreservedly recommend them.
The only person qualified to treat your guinea pigs is a veterinary surgeon (qualified) or you if it is an emergency. Any guinea pigs rehomed from RGPR should have no need to be treated by anyone other than a vet- we are local to Jenny Towers in Tilehurst and James Brookes in Maidenhead. There is an emergency vets at Castle Vets out of hours.
Misdiagnosis can lead to incorrect treatment and ultimately death.
