My guinea pig has just had a bladderstone removed. Should I reduce my guinea's Calcium intake?
Not necessarily and not without monitoring the current diet. Without knowing which type of stone caused the problem it is an unwise move to just 'give less calcium'. Calcium is NOT the only cause of bladder problems, an incorrectly balanced diet that contains very little calcium will also cause stones/grit as well as other long term problems that will happen over time and may never be outwardly obvious.
Planet guinea have been looking at domestic guinea pigs diet and have a diet sheet that is easy to fill in so your guinea's diet can be assessed.
