Vetsect Repel is the shampoo I used on the guineas before Gorgeous Guineas came into being in 2003. It was recommended by the Cambridge Cavy Trust. Although the manufacturers list the essential oils contained in the shampoo they haven't listed any other ingredients (it is not a requirement of law that they do), so who knows what could be going on the skin. Wealso do not know how much of the oils have gone into the shampoo. Gorgeous Guineas have a 'non essential oil' shampoo in Manuka and Neem, this is the one I find most effective for fungal and parasitic problems. One of the first guineas I rehomed was recommended Vetsect Repel for bathing and when he came back to choose a new friend a few years later his coat was noticeably harsh compared to my own that are bathed in Gorgeous Guineas. Which does make me wonder what it actually contains. Not a shampoo I would choose now that someone has taken the trouble to make a guinea pig specific shampoo, they're the people I'd rather support
