Seemingly not, though no research has been done to prove anything. I have lost more purebreds to Osteodystrophy than I have pets, but I did take the purebreds in because I knew OD was in their background so not exactly a fair test! Pandora, a Gold and Black pet Satin was my heaviest pig in the shed sand died aged 3 with no visible signs of OD, her sister is still going strong and also has no signs, but, of course, it could appear later. Monty, a P@H pet who I rehomed last year is also still OD free.... Seems to be much of a lottery unless you know that an ancestor has had it (it has missed generations though...). Without the help of breeders none of this info would be available, its not conclusive but I'm greatful for their contributions. Also to GBH rescue who donated some Satins to the study
