Each vet is different and this needs to be considered of course. Whatever your decision it would be a waste of everybody's time if you did not give GENTLE feedback. Gentle, because vets are learned people, it is somewhat threatening to be told by your client that perhaps you are wrong/could have done better. When approaching your vet do bear this in mind! They are not trained 'in guinea pigs' it is unreasonable to expect them to be knowledgable. But it is, I believe, reasonable to expect them to listen to youur point of view- when it is put politely. Making demands without giving reason will help no one. Similarly just walking out of the surgery without giving feedback helps no one. Only change to a different vet/practise if you feel that either: a. your guinea's life is in danger at the moment and a knowledgable vet is needed. or b. you have tried to work with this vet (and used gentle reasoning etc) but its not working, you feel your efforts are wasted. Travelling to the nearest knowledgable vet is good, but wouldn't it be better to have one that is nearer? What happens when this vet that you are prepared to travel to moves? We have 3 good vets at the Active Vetcare practise in Tilehurst, and because of the cost of veterinary bills these days I would encourage anyone within the Reading area to visit this surgery. Without feedback and suggestion no vet will learn about guinea pigs. It is then up to the vet what they do with that feedback
